Winter Solstice Ritual
By Vicki Moss
The Sebago dock was the site of a Winter Solstice celebration ritual. We lit up the darkness with our individually made luminaries. Each participant drew a symbol or wrote some words on a paper bag to express their appreciation for the light and the hope it brings to a world which could use some good energy. We added candles in some sturdy glass holders and lit the fires designed to help the sun gain in strength to chase the dark nights away. Each person reflected on what their hands could do to help bring positivity and good intentions to a scary world. The luminaries burned while people sweated and drummed to cleanse and detox our little part of the world known as Sebago. I hope everyone will reap the benefits of our celebration.
